Entry Requirements of OTHM Level 3 Course

There are no formal entry requirements required for OTHM Level 3 qualification. The learners are expected to know the language in which the course delivery and assessment will be completed to understand and articulate the concepts in the syllabus. Basic working knowledge of health and safety in the workplace would be advantageous; however, it is not obligatory.

This qualification can be offered to learners from the age of 16.

    OTHM qualifications at Level 3 provide practical knowledge, skills, competence and proficiency that can be valued in academic terms as equivalent to GCE AS/A Level of study.

    Progression of OTHM Level 3 Certification– What to do next?

    Learners who have successfully done their OTHM Level 3 Technical Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety become capable of pursuing the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with applicable experience.

    Furthermore, the learner can also progress to the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management along with a relevant qualification and can advance to an MSc qualification.

    On successful completion of the qualification, the participants are empowered to apply for Affiliate/Technical (TechIOSH) membership.

    Since the qualification provides on-demand organizational practical knowledge and skills, those passionate about a career in health and safety can take this course.

    Assessment & Verification Method

    The comprehensive units of the qualification are internally assessed by the centre and OTHM will perform the external verification. The qualification adopts a criterion-referenced methodology that evaluates the achievement of prescribed learning outcomes.

    Learners of the qualification have to submit their evidence to prove the fulfilment of all learning outcomes for attaining a ‘pass’ for a unit and also have to adhere to the standards set out by the assessment criteria. The Assessor is committed to finding out whether the learners have fulfilled the assessment criteria successfully.

    The Assessor should provide an audit trail that highlights the judgment of the overall achievement of the learners.
