Northern Council for Further Education (NCFE) was formed due to the merger of Northern Advisory Council for Further Education (NACFE), which was formulated in 1947 to provide complete support for the further education initiative across nine Northern Local Education Authorities (LEA)s and the Northern Counties Technical Examinations Council (NCTEC) in 1981.
